For more than three years, little #Solomiya lived under occupation with her grandmother. She last saw her mother back in January 2022. During all this time, her grandmother hid her granddaughter from the occupiers, even obtained a #Russian passport, but at home taught the girl the #Ukrainian language, reports #The_Washington_Post.

In June 2025, #Save_Ukraine helped return #Solomiya to the territory controlled by #Ukraine. At first, the girl did not recognize her mother, but then hugged her tightly.

"The girl I remember before the war and the one I see now — well, they seem like two different people. Before the war, she was a happy, curious, active child. Now she is more reserved," said the girl's mother, #Marichka.

Now #Solomiya goes back to school and is gradually recovering from what she experienced.
