My academic #ShadowCV includes,
* unsuccessfully applying for way too many permanent jobs,
* working at 5 universities, and nowhere tenure-tracks were available, or installed after me, or for others only,
* too much time spent on trains working the laptop,
* never had a contract longer then 3 years

#academicchatter , I think it is about time to make our shadow cv's more visible.

As an #earlycareer oder #midcareer scholar, you need to realize fast that rejections are part of the game we play in our academic worlds, but every one you know, and maybe look up to, surely had his or her failures too along the way. There is no academic without a #ShadowCV.
@dbellingradt @rjblaskiewicz
I remember asking the department chair if I was going to get the open tenure-track position and she said “No, we got ‘lucky,’ the new guy has a wife and she’s getting it.” Lucky indeed.

@dbellingradt I have an impressive #ShadowCV.
* 4 scholarships not granted
* researching/lecturing at 4 universities (no tenure)
* over 40 job rejections in the past months.

It is part of the game we play, as you said @dbellingradt. Wouldn't it be nice if the rules changed though, and we made mobility a bit less sexyy? I'd rather have continuity and community in one institute
