I'm playing the game Children of Morta with my son. We're just about done. It's a great little couch coop game (also featuring a family!). He likes pixel art so it's just perfect for him. The start of the game is kind of brutal since you die a lot and there's quite a bit of grinding you have to do. However, the grinding is rewarded by small scenes which either advance the plot or just show random things members of the family do, which is cute.

The plot is kind of dark, so it's not for young children. There's talk of sacrificing a baby (but it's not actually done), and death of a favorite character, and other characters are shown brooding about it.

The world-building in the plot is kind of all over the place, and confusing. It's fantasy, then it's steampunk, then it's scifi. It would have been stronger to just stick to a single genre, I think.

Like I said, the start of the game is brutal. If you don't have good arcade skills (mine are mediocre) then you have to grind a lot so it's easier. If I wasn't playing it coop with my son, I would have been on the verge of giving it up. But the pixel art is awesome and overall I did like the plot.

It's on sale in Humble Bundle now. https://www.humblebundle.com/store/children-of-morta
