Connolly: “In voting ‘no’ we had to vote a second time on Nice and on Lisbon and we were given absolute, solemn promises in relation to our neutrality that seem to mean nothing at the moment. Because we are now going down a road of saying that the Triple Lock is not a core part of our neutrality.”
This is correct. The government parties are trying to renege on solemn assurances given then to us so that we could approve those constitutional amendments. Now they insist the assurances are not legally binding. #TripleLock #DoubleCross #Áras25 #smearthebejaysis
Get this: at the same time as breaking faith with us, they ask us to trust them as they dismantle the 1960 statutory commitment to working through the UN when it comes to sending Irish soldiers overseas with international forces. That’s a bridge I’m not buying. #IrishNeutrality #áras25

(a) the authorisation of the operation by the Security Council or the General Assembly of the United Nations, (b) the agreement of the Irish Government and (c) the approval of Dáil Éireann in accordance with Irish law.” We were told then we could take that to the Bank. Now we are told it’s a dud.
