Narrow boat entering a lock. In the early 20th century, facing steep competition from railways, the Grand Union Canal rebuilt its locks to take two boats. One is already in the lock. You can see the mouth of the old single lock, paved over. Of course, the investment failed.

Eel traps on the River Test. The Test is famous as a chalk stream for fly fishing. We saw these structures from a bridge and couldn't work out what they were, but apparently these are eel traps, now disused as eels are protected.

Devved by Polyfilm Labs, who also did my Scala. Scanned by me with Vuescan. The colours were all over the place; I've done my (limited) best with them!

@Stormwitch Yes. It doesn't look much like the wild teasels round here (they tend to be thinner, longer stemmed) which is why I started with thistle, but even as I was typing it I was thinking, is that right?
