Most of the time when some tech youtube personality gets brought up to me in conversation, they're name dropped like I'm:
A. Supposed to know who they are
and
B. Think that what they say is coming from a source of authority.
But in every case I can think of, I have to say "sorry, I don't know who that is," or something like "I have a bone to pick with them/I don't like them."
In fact, right now, I can't think of a single tech youtube personality that I respect or respected at any point. They are entertainers first and foremost, and want you to keep watching because you are a revenue source for them.

I don't know if feeling this way is coming from a place of egotism in myself, or if it's just a general lack of trust in these individuals to be comprehensive fonts of untainted knowledge

#LTT nowadays is exclusively clickbaity "Entertainment" as the most competent person AFAICT ( @emilyyoung ) left them.

  • Espechally since LTT nowadays does more and more extreme "#HardwarePorn" that is completely decoupled from the needs, demands and capabilities of their target demographics.

Or did they actually make some #LowBudget content that is reproduceable (unlike #ScrapyardWars) ???
