@emilyyoung Yeah, even in #Germany (and the rest of the #EU) where #Microsoft still has to provide free extended Support for #Windows10 the #refurbishers are being flooded with a shitton of decent gear to the point that they have huge sales just to not drown in stock.

Shure noone here is gonna be impressed by an AMD GX-415 or some Intel #SkyLake / #KabyLake-System but it'll still run @ubuntu / #UbuntuLTS (Server), @bunsenlabs / #BunsenLabsLinux or even #RaspberryPiOS just fine.

I'm still daily-driving an #X230Tablet and that's fine and even good enough for lightweight #Gaming.

  • And in the end it's not bad hardware, but pricing: Being able to get something useable for < €100 or even < €50 completely can make the difference between a child having a PC to be able to get homework done or not.

I mean, I see @computertruhe and @PCsfueralle constantly make that work and there should be more such initiatives...

@emilyyoung also I'm pretty shure folks like @geerlingguy would consider some decently spec'd #ThinClients as an option to leran #Kubernetes and #Clustering on a shoestring budget if one can't just buy several decently spec'd #RaspberryPi|s…
