#FotoVorschlag: (Hoch)Stapelei // (High) stacks (In German, "Hochstapelei" is also an old-fashioned word for swindling, but I suppose today, we're sticking to stacks 😉)

Similar #ChristmasTree installations were built in Budapest and Manchester, with materials later donated or repurposed into objects like benches.

@meoralis Great photo! Thanks for the description, and also for the additional context for the word. I always appreciate your nuanced translations and insights into the language, which are better than what the translator function on my app gives me 😁
@[email protected] Thank you! I try my best 😅 And I'm regularly frustrated when a native speaker offers a better translation 😂 (Having said that, I know there's rarely a perfect 1:1 translation, especially with idioms or figures of speech)
@meoralis That’s so true re: idioms. The sense of “swindling” or “deception” for “Hochstapelei” is interesting — I wonder what photos people would post if they went with that meaning instead.
@[email protected] I don't think I've seen anything other than all kinds of stacks today 🤭 But one of the things I love so much about FotoVorschlag is discovering how other people's minds work and how they think outside the box. Yesterday for example, with the 4 elements, there were a few who actually posted chemical elements, which made me think, huh, why the hell not! 😀
@meoralis I saw that too, very clever 🤩
