Qualcomm buys Arduino ("The companies did not disclose the price of the deal")

@bagder Spot the odd one out : « Qualcomm, opens new tab on Tuesday said it has acquired Arduino, an Italian NOT-FOR-PROFIT firm that makes hardware and software for developing prototypes of robots and other electronic gadgets. » 🤔
@danslerush @bagder how can you even buy a non-profit? Wouldn't the person selling commit tax fraud or sth?

@DrRac27 @danslerush @bagder a no-Profit Company is a company that you own and so you can sell it.
The non-profit statute just states that profits must be reinvested and not distributed among members.

Unfortunately the Italian government is too busy covering up genocide to grasp the loss.

@bagder to bring you ai in your hacker projects, what a joy (no)

@bagder @f4grx If you ignore the brain dead hype, specialized HW that can run neural network stuff does offer interesting possibilities.

Messed with setups like this before. Have the beefier proc handling everything heavy while one is purely concerned with IO handling and other simple tasks.

That said it is looking like a vast majority of the docs for the QRB2210 are either as of currently unpublished or only available via NDA(not sure which, but they definitely are not on Qualcomms website).

@bagder WHAT THE FUCK

THEY BETTER BE PUTTING ARM PROCESSORS IN A NEW LINE OF ARDUINOS OR SO HELP ME

@bagder Qualcomm ruins Arduino.

Coming soon...

@bagder say "ciao ciao Arduino" 🖐️

@bagder mixed feelings. obv will go downhill under Qualcomm: end of era. OTOH I can respect if Arduino's founders/owners wanted to get rich, esp as a way of de-risking the lives of them and their loved ones. cuz very risky/chaotic things on the horizon, across near and medium term scales

there will always be other teams out there trying to make the next Arduino. not surprised if a few exist already
