Since she took the helm in February, the #DOJ has been in almost constant turmoil. #PamBondi & her top lieutenants have fired prosecutors who worked #Jan6 #insurrection cases or investigated #Trump & pushed out senior officials at the #FBI.

The #PublicIntegrity Section, which prosecutes public #corruption, has been almost entirely emptied out, while >70% of the attorneys in the #CivilRights Division have departed as well.

Sen #DickDurbin from #Illinois gave a pointed opening statement prior to #PamBondi’s hearing, calling the #DOJ under her leadership a disgrace.

Bondi just straight up lied in her opening statement saying, “we have never defied a court order.”

Outrageous.

I’m old enough to remember the whistleblower who reported #EmilBove literally telling DOJ attorneys that they would need to tell the #judiciary “fuck you”.

#Republican Sen #ChuckGrassley is guiding #PamBondi & is essentially testifying on her behalf in his “questioning” of her.
They are making a huge deal of so called operation “#ArcticFrost” - this was cell phone activity data retrieval from around the #Jan6 #insurrection including the phones of members of #Congress. The subpoena was discussed at the time as a wide net it didn’t specify Congress members but said all cells is the area, so, duh. The retrieval did not include message or call content.

#PamBondi straight up refuses to answer Sen #DickDurbin when he asked her if she discussed the Chicago raids with the White House. She then attacks him claiming #Democrats for the #shutdown.

She also totally lies about #Chicago murder rates claiming it is five times that of NY.

Bondi, like the #FBI director #KashPatel, is attempting to turn Democrats’ questioning on the committee into high-volume political theater. The attorney general has shouted herself hoarse after only a few minutes of questioning. Bondi refused to answer the questions, then attacked Whitehouse by demanding to know why his campaign accepted donations from Reid Hoffman co-founder of linked who has donated to multiple Dem campaigns, Republicans tenuously linked Hoffman to Epstein.

The FBI obtained phone data from several Republican senators in 2023, as part of the special counsel's investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The data included CALL LOGS & TIMESTAMPS, NOT the CONTENT of the conversations.

The #FBI made an audio recording of the Sept 2024 meeting with #TomHoman, as part of an investigation which #Trump #DOJ & #FBI officials closed earlier this year. A White House propagandist denied Homan took the money, & Homan has denied criminal wrongdoing.
