Unfortunately, that Code only defines what constitutes how an American flag must look.
It doesn't specify how it must be treated (#Republicans *tried* to pass a vapid anti-flag desecration bill in the 90's, but it failed b/c enough members of Congress knew it would run afoul of the #FirstAmendment... back when they still cared about things like that.)
Today... just like #KegBreath's pocket square... "patriotism" is just a fashion accessory. 😞

No penalty for violating the code, but clearly a violation:
"The flag should never be used as a receptacle for receiving, holding, carrying, or delivering anything." (which I assume includes snot.)
