All because she spoke out against capitalism, fascism, colonialism and genocide.
It's a new heuristic: If liberals support you, you're not getting your message across.
This is because Thunberg saw through them, and walked away from their self-serving photo opps. They weren't able to corrupt her into becoming a useful icon of the liberal establishment.
Integrity is a rare thing. It upsets powerful people.

Never mind the Liberals. Greta Thunberg is my compatriot, and in Europe we have actual Socialists in parliament. The "Liberal" party helped form the current government with support from the Fascists.
This is an odd article, based on a bizarre assumption. For some reason, the author seems to think that if someone shared a particular belief (the specific tenets of environmentalism that Thunberg touted) with her, they must obviously agree with and endorse all of her positions on other issues.
Why? There is no logical reason. Perhaps you agree with someone's position on universal basic income, but disagree with them on regulation of political donations. Or you endorse someone's promotion of protection of endangered species, but are opposed to their protest against resource development in some particular area.
There is no reason to say "You agree with X, therefore you must also agree with Y" here.

To me it never felt all the attention for Greta was what about her message.
It was more of a hype, a sensational happening, a Hollywood story. A story about a hero coming to save us. But climate change isn't a story and tackling it is hard and a boring one. (Although I feel it could bring us many good things in the long run).
Don't get me wrong: this is not an attack on Greta, she's amazing. But all the hoopla around it was just nonsense.
