Walking from Marmong Point to Speers Point Park yesterday, lots of birds to be seen. Ducks, shags, moorhens, herons (3 types), pelicans, white-bellied sea eagle, swallows galore, seagulls, magpies, noisy miners, bell miners, parrots, …. prolly more. Magical place. Here's a few photos, mostly I didn't bother and just soaked it in.

Always look in the stormwater drains.

A couple of these yachts don't seem to have this "mooring" thing down properly. Shouldn't they be mostly *above* water?

Always look in the stormwater drains. This great egret (white heron as we call it) stepped out of the drain under the Five Island Bridge to hunt in the water flowing into the lake.

Always look up too, especially at lamp posts next to water. Maybe don't stand under them though.

After our picnic at Speers Point Park, we walked to the bus stop near the pub to catch a bus up to Hammerbarn. I lost count of the number of times a magpie flew into the tree next to us, a worm in its beak each time. Here's the nest it was poking them into, in a tuckeroo tree right at the bus stop.

@pelicangut I don't think I've been to Speerspoint Park in 50yrs,I grew up in Wangi,is it still a great park ?

@Philipnschofield it is, probably better than ever. Better picnic tables, more and better loos, water fountains, good flat and wide pathways.

Just don't go on a weekend; it's pure hell with noisy events and too many people. Very nice on a weekday though!
