Veloviewer did a nice interview with me on the topic of tile collecting or tile hunting.

The View From An Original Tiler – VeloViewer

@tfrank_de I have been at 54x54 since early last year. As you say it requires big rides to increase this. I do have a 200km+ ride drafted to grab two tiles to take me to 55.
Like you, I like to see where I have been, particularly on the continent. I live in the middle of England and also looking to get my cluster to reach the North sea and perhaps the Irish sea as well.
@Blackhound 54x54 is impressive. Located in the middle of England I guess it's a nice target to connect all the coasts. :)
@tfrank_de I am retired so have a bit more time than most, even if I travel slower.

@tfrank_de enjoyed that, thanks. I think the fun of explorer squares isn't heard about enough.

I started mine in COVID (probably not alone there) but it's let me see all sorts of interesting dead ends and places I'd otherwise have missed.

Where I live it's hard to complete a big square as we have the sea to the north and some large military training areas near Thetford. We won't discuss my early morning jog alongside the RAF Marham perimeter! I just enjoy colouring in the squares regardless of the max square.

@markn Yes, it's oddly satisfying on several layers. Out riding as well as looking on the maps afterwards. :)
