I screened a #documentary tonight for the #NationalDayForTruthAndReconciliation called #YouCanCallMeRoger.

What began as a retirement video for longtime chief #RogerAugustine became something much bigger when revelations of mass unmarked graves of #Indigenous children came to light during the production of the video.

We hear from a diverse set of voices including several chiefs, and even former prime minister of canada Paul Martin.

If you're interested in learning about the horrors of the #canadianResidentialSchoolSystem, this film has several first-hand accounts. The film is equal parts horrifying and enraging, and uplifting and inspiring.

I learned from the film that today, in 2025, the government of my province of #newBrunswick charges $14,000 per child who lives on reservstion per year to attend public school. For everyone else, it's - of course - free.

This is what #SystemicRacism looks like.

I'm not entirely sure who foots the bill, but it seemed implied that the nation paid for it - I have yet to look into it deeper, but i can tell you every settler child off-reserve never pays a dime.

After the film we held a live Q & A session between the audience and director #JonMann via Zoom.

I do this sort of thing regularly, yet it never ceases to amaze me witnessing a long-distance video call between a pair of wireless microphones and 40 foot high laser projection.

So so so many moving parts. Dozens of connection points. Generations of knowledge building on top of itself - generations of countless people to make this happen.

We are fucking wizards! We can do anything as a species. Why are we wasting life on bullshit like racism and genocide? GROW UP!
