The vesa mount solution isn't an option with the monitor I want to use, so I tried to make some kind of support with what I have, this is the bottom part.
mistakes were made, who needs perfect symetry anyway?
dressing up the display 🩲
found a small neon for the marquee, not sure it's working but will find out soon 👀
thanks to @tipiak75 for suggesting a buttons reorder
wiring test 99% successful
the buttons panel is fixed with straps instead of hinges because reasons 😅
one joystick has been screwed upside down to ease with the wires, but that ancient retropie installation won't let me setup the controls separately, so it's either unscrew or reinstall
That greasy box of empanadas just started its second life as a chassis for the Pi4B.
The raspbery sticker didn't age well though, it needed an update 😉
made a marquee by pasting stuff from the interwebs, couldn't figure out the right print settings though 🤷
vesa mount installed, that freed a lot of space and allowed me to add new leds and tinfoil to the marquee, the old led band was still sticky so it's now glorifying the backstage.
I'm not sure how temporary this "tetris mount" will be, but it was unexpectedly practical to adjust the display position.
improvised a more serious vesa mount, added plastic edges that feel like rubber, squirted hot glue everywhere I could, and added a warning notice taken from an old elevator
the result is way too clean though, I'll add more dirt, torn stickers, rust stains and erosion traces to remove any doubt about the rat's style of the furniture 😉
applied some mat painting, added a few stickers but not too many as there will be a "sticker party" to outsource that part of the decoration 😉
still undecided about painting the joystick/buttons planks in dark mat too
hey fedi hivemind, should I keep those panels white or should I paint them in black?
my first bartop now has a little sibling, 7cm narrower, 6 buttons instead of 8, a full width marquee, and a better cable management for the joystick panel
@tobozo a good isopropyl alcohol swipe may be advised, as right now its shiny surface along with the reflecting neon glow both emphasize your fingerprints all over it 😁
Other than that, amazing job ! Can't wait to play it ! 💣
