@codinghorror The problem is, if you crack down when they are few, it's seen as heavy-handed and people sympathize with them, but if you wait too long, it is too late.

@jmsdnns @codinghorror yes, just look at what is going on in Germany with the AfD, despite them having an extensive legislative arsenal against extremists, for obvious reasons. Ultimately it boils down to the vigilance of the electorate, but almost all Western nations are failing at this, including Japan by extension.
