The reason Democrats aren't taking this current fascist takeover seriously is because they have always treated politics like it is a friendly intramural sport, and truly believe they will get the sportsball back for a win.
They honestly do not think Trump wants to actually murder them.
And maybe he doesn't. Maybe he's just playing the same game, but by very new rules.
But no president has ever been this completely unhinged, threatening to destroy or kill anyone who annoys him in the slightest.

One thing I don't think anyone attempted to do is see if any elected Democratic Party officials or liberal pundits talked shit about him when he was alive, because he was a Nazi bastard. And then see if any of those same people did a complete 180 on Kirk after he was mercked because they're afraid of incurring the wrath of Trump and his Truthiness Social rampages.
If there is ONE GODDAMN JOB I expect of the "opposition party" it is to CALL NAZIS, NAZIS and be unapologetic about it.
