I visited Poinsett Bridge in northern Greenville County, yesterday. It was built in 1820, and spans 130 feet with a 14-foot arch. Unfortunately, it has deteriorated to the point where an extensive renovation project was necessary. That project starts tomorrow. #PoinsettBridge #GreenvilleCounty #SouthCarolina

The arch itself looks to be in excellent condition, apart from a little undercutting. Those dressed stones are beautiful.

@Galley what do you think the original builders thought the bridge would last?
@Blanco Itโ€™s hard to say. I canโ€™t imagine a road even going through there at one time, based on the topography. Itโ€™s on the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
