After some time watching #kdrama I'm sharing my favs:

Beautiful. Tragic. The hair. The ending.

The dept. Different ending dep. on which storyline you followed. Stolen looks. The brothers. All women.

Unapologetically gay. The ensemble. Handling mental problems. The fun.
#MrSunshine
The colors! Over the top, symbolism, great personas. 1/N

Cat. 2 Excellent+
#MyLiberationNotes
Beautiful. Dark. Intense. The Ending.

3/N #kdrama

I feel I have forgotten to mention quite a few and I also still have a watch list that includes some gems!

However, I feel I also need to mention that the following well-known ones did not do the trick for me:
#wiwwsk #vincenzo #mrqueen

How about you, my dear #kdrama nims?

4/N

Oh, and then we also have Cat.5 Excellent, BUT...
#loveisabonusbook loved the office environment, BUT... serious lack of chemistry, ML2 was better suited
#somethingintherain lovely, BUT.. the screaming mother
#descendantofthesun entertaining, BUT.... too long of the same
#thetrunk
Very special atmosphere, BUT.... crazy story with that crazy ex
#itsokaynottobeokay
Same, BUT... no facial expression ML

5/5 #kdrama

@mel The only Kdramas I shared with you are Coffee Prince and Mr Sunshine. Toppers ! Kdrama spreaded out in so many flavours, no use trying to keep up with it. For me anyway. I have that "thing" for pre -2010 Kdrama.
No logic, strange endings, over the top acting, humor, filmed on the go , simple locations: Yeah....!
Anticipating 2 Hong Sisters dramas: Sincerely hoping they are not trying to overdo it Alchemy Of Souls-style.
@hanktank61 I gave some of the oldies a try, but my brain is not wired for all the long talks of the elders etc. so then I start ff-ing a lot. I do like the more unpolished looks a lot though!
@mel "You say Tomato, I say Tomato !" 🙂
@hanktank61 Lets call the whole thing off
@mel After second read: I did watch many more from your list.With pleasure. Some from the last three years keep calling for rewatch. When time is so precious...
I stopped with To My Beloved Thief yesterday. Irritation, not from the leads but the drama in general.
As revenge i started with "Angel¨, Marlene Dietrich 1937.
Still Wow .
@hanktank61 nice revenge, ha!
@mel My Mister is my most favorite, too. I have seen and liked two more out of your sublimes, and four out of your excellent+ ones. BTIMFL is another one of my favorites, and I also liked BP and WTWIF from cat #3. I tried, but hated CLOY.
For me, the camera work and the music made The Trunk a favorite despite the very crazy story.
@sbi Ha, yes, the trunk was very conflicting; it made a huge impression in me bc it was so beautifully made, but come on... what is the deal here, ex? I can really recommend Lost, not light, but talking about a series with a special atmosphere, it is worth a month of Iqiyi. Oh, and the complete opposite on the heavy/light spectrum is love to hate you, I wish there were more of these fun series made nowadays.. #kdrama

@mel I think, given the hilarious plot devices of some Korean dramas (fake marriages are a common trope, and so are main characters who basically had to raise themselves from elementary school age…), TT wasn't even that much of an outlier. Yes, they definitely stretched the fake marriage trope a bit further than most, but they played quite skillfully with it. And some of the camera work was absolutely stunning, especially in conjunction with the music.

For something deep, MM beats them all.

@sbi True, true, and I am willing to accept a lot, but sometimes it is just too much haha
@mel I can relate to that. Everybody had their own unique mix of what they can accept and what they cannot. (I could not get myself to watch past episode 2 of CLOY, which everybody else assures me is one of the best dramas ever.)
@sbi Yes, we discussed earlier that you have to accept a lot of unrealistic elements of life in NK for that one, same goes for eg Vicenzo with the mafia vibe
@mel I never even attempted to watch Vincenzo, but I tried CLOY, and, unfortunately, I was born and raised east of the iron curtain. The depiction of what NK is like was far beyond my acceptance.
@sbi Yes, I discussed CLOY with some friends last week 'If you forget about repression, hunger and reputation of soldiers it is a great series' (It was a very bitter joke of course)
@mel I wasn't even morally outraged. It was just the naive view onto those people's lives that I couldn't take.
@mel Vincenzo and Mr. Queen are so. Darned. Good. Stellar, stellar shows.
@commonst Yeah, I know a lot of people are there with you. I dont know why I'm not into it, gave both a decent try🤷‍♀️
@mel humour is very subjective. I found both to be hilarious. But my sense of humour is a little quirky. It could just come down to that. (I think I misread your original post, apologies if it felt I was questioning your experience with them. That was not my intent.)
@commonst oh, tnx, but don't worry, I did not read it as such!
@commonst @mel
Although there was a lot I enjoyed in Vincenzo, I quit about halfway through. And Mr. Queen is on so many favourites lists but I’ve given that lead actor a couple of solid tries and I’m not prepared to do it again. Maybe someday.
@mel I personally hated wiwwsk because the power dynamics were just icky to me. 😅
@JillsJoy 💯 that. Dynamics that make the FL smile such an annoying mask. I'm not into tsundere, that is for sure.
@mel Same .Mr Queen I liked for acting. Not realistic although there was a Pope Joan once in the West, isn't it ?
@hanktank61 That seems to be a slanderious story by a pope-rival at the time, I'm afraid... #pope
@mel Healer is a huge fave, so is Because This Is My First Life.
@commonst I love both a LOT!
@mel Snowdrop mentioned! Top tier Jung Hae-in (and not a bad kdrama debut for Jisoo too)
@kdramarama You know it is going to end in tears when...
