Is a observed in my review of Predator 2, the Predator films feel very B-movie-like. And the first film, John McTiernan's 1987 Predator is not an exception.

Predator 1987 was always a B-movie

I can nitpick a few details (IIRC they mostly shot in dry woods that they had to "green up" to make look like jungle, & even use outdoor heaters it was that cold) but I can't disagree with the main point.

Predator is 'A' in budget but gloriously 'B' in spirit and I love it!

@klu9 You can see from the film that McTiernan is not using clean shots almost at all. There are a few here and here. But most of the time, the film is very hand-held.

@blenderdumbass

I can't quite remember off the top of my head. Sounds like an excuse to rewatch #PredatorMovie again 😁

@klu9 Well I saw the film yesterday. lol
@klu9 Also compare the work he does here to the polish he does one year later with "Die Hard"

@blenderdumbass

Now you're giving me an excuse to rewatch #DieHard too???

Thanks! 😁

(A few years ago, I even watched Nomads altho I can't remember much about how that was shot)

@klu9 What is funny, is that I saw the 2002 McTiernan disaster Rollerball not so long ago. And you could see why John got into prison for that movie. The studio interference must have been insane to drive him to such means.

@blenderdumbass

I've never seen the 2002 one, but maybe if he went to prison over it, maybe I should!

@klu9 He wiretapped one of the executives that was sabotaging the production. Because things went too far. You can see the film tries to be something good. But there are just way too many terrible decisions in it. Probably McTiernan tried to salvage the situation by wiretapping the damn exec. But it was too late and he couldn't do much of anything. So the movie turned out to be shit.

Funny because the movie is about studio interference in show-business.
