Who has written on the implications and practicalities of rehabilitating subsistence, in preparation for the transition of heavily-financialized economies to a post-growth world?

#permaculture #degrowth #subsistence #postindustrial

My thought here is beyond the individual yearning for homestead life, what conditions make the shift towards a radically lower-impact way of life both desirable and feasible for many of the heaviest consumers in the world today? #permaculture #degrowth #subsistence #postindustrial #downshifting #gentrification
@james We're victims of our own success. If this wasn't so there would be no reason to change.

@james

Living in harmony with nature is a prerequisite for having a durable civilization or society at all. Ecology is a _hard_ science.

Also, because we are evolved creatures living in harmony with nature is intrinsically fulfilling.

We can eliminate the discontents of civilization that are causing ecological destruction and improve our quality of life while repairing the damage we've done to the global ecosystem.

@james So much for motivation. As for feasibility, the advancement of technology means that it's exponentially cheaper to "go back to the land". Solar panels are cheaper, etc.
