🌲 This Day in History – Sept 26, 1890
On this day, the United States established Yosemite National Park — a sacred preserve of granite cliffs, towering sequoias, and roaring waterfalls.
Naturalist John Muir famously wrote:
“The mountains are calling, and I must go.”
But my heart? It beats a little differently.
A brother once opined:
“The mountains are calling, and I must go.”
But for me,
it is the people I most hoe.
They are thirsty.
And need some drink.
And I —
half-full or half-empty,
depending on the day —
still poor, I think.
