While I'm glad that the entertainment industry is shedding light on the #TroubledTeenIndustry they get somet hings wrong right off the bat. The #TTI didn't start with cults in the 70s. It started with #Christian, #Catholic, #Mormon & #Indigenous #BoardingSchools. www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/way...

Mae Martin's Wayward exposes the dark world of 'troubled teen' schools

The Netflix limited-series, while fictional, is inspired by the highly controversial, sometime fatal 'troubled teen' industry.

Removing the fact that a lot of this started with religious fascism and colonization removes part of the history and singles out survivors of religious boarding schools who are very much survivors of the #TroubledTeenIndustry. I'm used to it by now but sick of it.
Its just another way Christians, Catholics, Mormons and other religious fascist abusers hide the fact they are behind many of these fascist institutions and have been assimilating youth for hundres of years.
I may or may not watch it. Personally I get really irritated with people who try to change history or white wash it. I've been very outspoken in the #TroubledTeenIndustry about our need to include #BoardingSchool survivors and have pushed back against this false narrative for many years.
The mods on r/TroubledTeens are trash. They are racist white washing religous washing Nazis censoring us survivors from speaking the truth about the industry and doing the dirty work of people like #ParisHilton trying to erase that part of the industry's history. Just FYI.
I have created r/TroubledTeenSurvivors an alternative to r/TroubledTeens. We will not put up with fake history, white washing, religious washing, Nazi like censorship, or idol worship of racist homophobes like Paris Hilton nor will we allow bullying of survivors or non survivors to post. Join us.
