Public funding for democratic / pro-social projects is getting slashed across Saxony. This comes through the right-wing shift in political climate: AfD, strongly enabled by the "conservative" CDU + traditionalist local initiatives.

There is a quirk for this funding, where the bulk comes from Bundesland (state) but the Gemeinde (municipality) must put up 10%.

For progressive leaning cities, not a problem. For conservative leaning provinces, problem.

This can only aggravate the city-rural split

This is also personal. 100k€ got slashed from the #NDK in #Wurzen recently this way.

Details kind of wild: municipality rejected funding the 10%, said there wasn't enough money. People raised and offered to donate this money. Municipality rejected to forward this donation... ??

We need to accept this is the way things are right now, and that state support is back in the category of "surprising", not "to be expected".
