You can give up the use of Google as a consumer if it makes you feel better, but opting-out as an individual won't actually have any significant effect. If effective action is what you are looking for, you'll need to associate yourself with a group of some kind and act collectively.

@ewhac That being said, you may want to give up Google search because its a crappy product. I use duckduckgo because it's free, but I hear good things about kagi as a paid alternative.

For webmail, it's really a question of which nation state you trust. Until recently I would have put my money on proton/switzerland, but I'm rethinking that stance.

@ewhac Docs: All my docs these days are in github or hackmd.

Calendar: Honestly, I'm not too worried about Google making money off of my calendar usage.
