in 2023 the anti-homosexuality act was passed enforcing long prison sentences, and even the death penalty for “aggravated homosexuality.” while so many of us were plunged into a life of isolation and fear at KPU we chose to fight back providing safety and hope to LGBT+ people here who need it the most..

..with the USAID funding cuts earlier this year, everything we had worked so hard to build here in uganda nearly disappeared in the blink of an eye. our drop-in centre has welcomed LGBT+ ugandans, offering HIV testing, PrEP, psychosocial support, counseling, and other lifesaving services. we have become a beacon of hope in a hostile country..
