We just witnessed 4 years of Joe Biden claiming he’s “hopeful”Republicans will do the right thing per tradition, while himself clinging on to power too long—ultimately enabling Trump’s win.

And instead of learning a single damn thing, Chuck Schumer says he “hopes” Trump will do the right thing per tradition, while himself clinging on to power too long.

And once again, Trump will get what he wants, and ‪we will all suffer. We absolutely need New Democratic Party leadership.

@QasimRashid I'm afraid you rather need a second American Revolution.

@QasimRashid

Schumer - and Jeffries - need to be replaced.

Simply hoping this misadministration is so bad that the Dems will win in 2026 isn't strategy. It's naive and foolish in light of the other side doing every single thing they can to cheat.

Relying on an election that you will be cheated out of is just plain stupid.

@QasimRashid I'm genuinely curious what new leadership looks like to you? What policies do you think will change if the leadership changes?
@mike @QasimRashid You don’t think Bernie and AOC would lead the Democratic Party differently than the current abysmal leadership?
@bitbear @QasimRashid Is that an answer to my questions?
@mike @QasimRashid With some fantasy, it should be? They oppose DNC on so many issues it’s difficult to understand why they share the same party as current leadership.

@bitbear @QasimRashid That's why I asked if that was an answer to my questions.

It's fantasy to think that outliers, who work within the irreparably broken power structure, could ever become leadership. Particularly when one of them has been completely unsuccessful in moving the needle for over 30 years.

In my opinion, the Democratic party is not interested in nor able to be changed or fixed. This structure cannot be changed from within, it's too entrenched. It's keeping the bulk of its donors/owners exactly where they want to be, rich and in power.

I asked the question to someone who has a Juris Doctor degree and who has attempted to become part of the system to gain insight that I might not have.

@QasimRashid diseased brain gerontocrats will kill us all with their Vichyness.

#TurdReich #gerontocrats #democrats #USPol

@QasimRashid

Democrats? Feh. Good cop, bad cop, both cops.

Party politics is what got us into this mess in the first place. Any system that not only allows, but enables, fascists to gain power is a sick and evil system. Our problem is not Democrats or even Republicans. It's the system itself. It isn't working for us. It's only working for the rich. We don't need "better" government. We need self-government. Only direct democracy even *is* democracy. Anything less is a fraud and a sham. Our so-called "representatives" don't represent us. They represent their donors. We are perfectly capable of representing ourselves, but we are not allowed to do it.

@QasimRashid
At this point I think Chuck Schumer is just performing for the news because he doesn't care in reality since he feels insulated.
@QasimRashid in many democratic countries, there are Leaders to all the parties, who guide the direction of them, even when not in power. And often guide what the government in power can get away with.
The US doesn’t seem to work that way - the exception, Trump between elections and look what that did to the Democrats in power.
Democrats essentially disappeared when they lost election - where’s Harris, or whoever to *lead* the party?Senate & House simply going thru the motions.
@QasimRashid With respect, I'm tired of people blaming Joe Biden for Trump's win, plus it weakens your argument. It was the entire Democratic Party and their weak going-along- to-get-along actions plus gullible voters who lost the election for Democrats.
Biden didn't operate in a vacuum. He made mistakes, as every president does, but he also did a lot of good. It would help if voters could see that's currently being undone by the current administration.

@LilPecan @QasimRashid Sadly, this kind of rage bait account gets more boosts than people with productive solutions.

Merrick Garland had multiple prosecutions of 45 moving forward for years. SCOTUS killed them, but people are mad at Biden and Garland? They should be mad at themselves for staying home in 2016 and 2024.

Learning the wrong lessons, attacking allies and shooting themselves in the feet - anti-Democrat “leftists” in a nutshell.

@QasimRashid

I can tell you that Trump won’t … dictators don’t resign.

@QasimRashid I don't think you can save the democrats. We need to take money out of politics, and democrats are sitting there getting rich just like the republicans. Only a third party can save us, in my opinion.
@QasimRashid I hear you! At this point, clinging to the DNC itself feels like tradition. When do we say that enough is enough? The DNC won't even support Mamdani. MAMDANI.
I want us to see a coalition between the Working Families Party, Party for Socialism and Liberation...
Not sure about the Green Party joining, but then some of you have more familiarity with the inner workings of each group here.

@QasimRashid the #GOP has fallen off the continuum on the Right into full #Fascism - they won't relinquish power just bc they lose an election

#CorporateMedia is all about access& ad revenue - they'll keep toeing the line

Today's #Democrats occupy the position the GOP used to hold re platform/policies, so #Workers are just sorta fucked here rn

All down to #CitizensUnited

@QasimRashid We need to fully abandon the Democratic Party.
@oberstenzian @QasimRashid Problem is there's no other realistic choice, though I'd love to see that change.

@vextaur @QasimRashid If there’s no realistic other choice it’s because we collectively refuse to acknowledge or create any. You’re engaging in a kind of learned helplessness that is endemic to how Americans think. That mindset is part of how we wound up at this moment and why I have zero faith in Americans to right any historic or current wrongs.

Have fun living in fascism!

@oberstenzian @QasimRashid I would disagree, I realize there's a problem, the current independent parties are little more than a pointless ego trip until the laws change, and I have no idea how to start a party that's run with the intelligence to change those laws, if'n you know how, I'm all ears and unskilled labor happy to help make it happen.
@vextaur @QasimRashid Don’t start a party. Start a militia.
@oberstenzian @QasimRashid Not a bad idea for those what can do it, but in my 50s, just this side of handicapped and never used a weapon, I don't think I'm much good. Politics, fixing this broken system? I can do something there, but its not like anyone wants to fix things.
@QasimRashid He didn't cling to power too long. The people voted for him. The naive one clinging to her ambitions was Kamala Harris, who didn't even bother to challenge the election results when running against a known cheater, after having insisted on being in the race without having to run in the primary. Or perhaps she wasn't naive. Perhaps she wanted him to win. But Joe Biden was a great president and I wish he'd stayed in the race. Things would be different now.
@QasimRashid
We castigate the Republicans for it, in a different context, but unfortunately the leadership of the Democratic Party has resulted in it also being a "hopes and prayers" party, albeit with different hopes.
:-(
@QasimRashid
Parties belong in a democracy. That's not the game being played anymore.
