I survived my first night in #PaddyTheCaddy and am now enjoying breakfast of Aeropress coffee and Pain au Chocolat.

Yesterday's torrential rain eased off overnight. The rain meant I couldn't have the rear windows open overnight so it's a bit steamy in here this morning.

The road traffic started again just before 6am and the birds started tweeting shortly after that.

Despite having not yet built any furniture, I felt comfortable. That's as much mental as physical, I think. I'm in a suburban carpark and I felt safe enough. My Garmin says I slept pretty well!

@aroundthehills I've a nagging urge buy some decent winter gear and go out camping for a few nights. Money and time aren't my best friends at the moment though 😞

@30yrdscreamer I'm a firm believer in getting out and doing what you can. You don't NEED all the expensive gear but it's nice to have and can make you a bit more comfortable. As long as you're not heading into really extreme environments, I don't think it'll make you safer; it's your attitude and experience that most impact safety.

When I'm really short of time I do overnight camps with a short walk before and after. I can have a really beneficial break but only be away for half a day!

@aroundthehills it's not so much expensive gear as any gear that I need. I don't have a car and don't fancy trying to squeeze my 5 person 20kg family tent into my 65l rucksack 😂

@30yrdscreamer Er, no, that wouldn't be ideal!

I hope you can find a way to get out.

@aroundthehills That sounds like a successful trip. Congratulations 😀
@AnnaUK Yes, it was fun. 😃
