PSA: our new release 0.87.0 out! ๐ŸŽ‰

The list of newly supported devices, new features, improvements and fixes is simply too large to post here, so make sure to check out our blog post!

Of special note: in addition to the regular F-Droid releases, we're now publishing official releases, signed by us, directly on our Codeberg repository. And our official builds have also been picked up and published by IzzyOnDroid for easy future upgrading. ๐Ÿš€

Gadgetbridge 0.87.0: Many new devices, improvements and official builds - Gadgetbridge

A free and open source Android application for bluetooth devices.

We're following up the 0.87.0 release with a quick 0.87.1 release. This is necessary to fix a regression that was reported with syncing certain workout types on certain Garmin devices.

0.87.1 is already available in the releases section on our Codeberg repository and on IzzyOnDroid. F-Droid should follow in a few days, depending on the build roster.

@gadgetbridge

Thanks for your awesome Work ๐Ÿ˜

@gadgetbridge Fantastic update - thanks for your outstanding work!

The thing I miss the most in GadgetBridge is a way to visualize sleep data like a schedule, which is the defaul in Apple Health and very helpful information. The current work on Health Connect may provide a workaround, but would be really great to have such a visualisation in GadgetBridge.

There is an open feature request in
codeberg.org/Freeyourgadget/Gadgetbridge/issues/5180
[feature] Sleep tracking: add graph UI for start and end times of sleep in weekly + monthly view

@gadgetbridge As always ๐Ÿ‘ For the great work. Is there a way to switch repository wirhout hassle (loosing the configuration)?
@geotux @gadgetbridge Switching from F-Droid to official or Izzy needs a re-installation because the releases are signed with a different key (security measurement by Android). However it should be a matter of only few minutes when you export your current settings as zip (in data-management) and import it after reinstallation.
@bene64 @gadgetbridge thanks, thats what I thought ... With my device i just need on top to reinstall the original App to pair the device again ...
@geotux @bene64 No, you won't need the original app again. You can simply export your Gadgetbridge data as a zip file, uninstall, install from another source, import your zip file. Then connect your device, and optionally set it as a Companion device from our debug screen.
We'll write a blog post about switching between builds somewhere in the near future, explaining your options and required steps.
@gadgetbridge @bene64 ๐Ÿ‘ Thanks for the answer and looking forward to the blogpost.
Looking at the latest Android developments I plan to move to Fairphone / Murena anyway and will switch my packet source in this step ...
@gadgetbridge @bene64 unfortunately I also had to switch devices (amazfit GTR4 to a new phone) - and re-pair. Now I ended up with huafetcher-0.26 telling me (when requesting the key):
400 Client Error: Bad request for url: https://account.huami.com/v2/client/login
anyone who can reproduce this?

@gadgetbridge Nice, keep up the great work! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Really wish my my glorious #AudioTechnica ATH-M50xBT2 were supported, best wireless/wired #headphones I have ever owned, even without noise cancelling.

At least their app isn't as bad as the total mess by #Sony. Most confusing and annoying UI I have ever seen, while charging super premium prices and having absolutely terrible customer support. ๐Ÿซ  #GadgetBridge got me covered here, though! โœŒ๏ธ

@gadgetbridge
this is great news , will you provide official releases of the beta also this way ? Or will it stay with the fdroid repo? I switched to beta for the latest updates affecting Garmin devices.

Thank you so much for all your hard work. Its amazing having an alternative to Garmin Connect

@Greylinux
The nightly builds have always been signed and published by us, and will remain that way. However, due to them being published automatically every night, they're signed with a different key than our release builds. So switching between them will still require doing a full data export and import.
