My scholarly reading (on leadership giving) has been disconcerting tonight. Thorup 2013 (p264) calls out the “growing confidence in the ‘over-confident individual’—a leader who has proven his or her financial competence and is now assumed to also be capable of providing ‘solutions’ to social problems.”

Ouch.
