And finally, a sneak peak at our first #buffythevampireslayer set!

I absolutely hate when card games use live action screenshots, but sometimes that's all ya have access to (especially for 90s live action horror/SciFi/fantasy stuff)! I tried to push what that could look like here and I think I did a pretty good job! Expect more of these shenanigans across the entire set.

Updated her with an Inherent Ability after some feedback from the community. It's an interesting thing to run "tests" on a card that only some people will ever play or appreciate, but we still take our fun seriously, so we'll see how she holds up under scrutiny.

In OP Classic, a Character's "version" (the text after the colon) didn't do much beyond signifying an alternate portrayal. Generally, these would be used to represent a specific storyline, like Beast: the Brute representing his appearance and demeanor from the Mutant X timeline. He got a corresponding stat overhaul, but beyond that he still has access to Beast's formidable Special suite. One that drives me nuts is Human Torch: Invaders being created as a Version of Johnny Storm's Human Torch, as they are entirely different individuals.

Versions have since gotten way more important in the customs realm, with Creators concocting Version specific Specials, as well as the game-changing new Tactic subtype cooked up by the TPD Cards foundry:Tactics.

Built around iconic teams or more generalized archetypes, Tactics are playable only by Characters with the listed Version and usually had some lower stats to offset the new array of abilities now available to them.

We built this Buffy with that in mind, as this set has three Scooby Trait cards, but still ultimately agreed she could use the, ugh, buff! There'll be a slight final edit, specifying "one of opponent's Characters," but otherwise I'm feeling good about this one!

I also whipped up her first special from this set: Ambush Tactics.

The HF meta code is reserved for an attack that hits for two Power Types and is usually not limited, but given that this attack can be launched after an enemy plays any Special that isn't an attack, I figured it should be reined in a bit!

I'm really proud of the layout and color scheme for the Buffy set specials. I tore up some paper and scanned it in for a separate project to get that border effect and I will most likely abuse it and run it into the ground before I move onto something else lol.

As always, if anyone recognizes the artist, please let me know so I can give them proper credit.
