There is one pool type #nuclear research reactor in Greece. Its construction started in 1959 and its operation in 1961. It is located at the National Centre for Scientific Research (#Demokritos) in Athens and it generated 5 MW of power.

It was shut down in 2004. Initially for an upgrade to 10 MW power, but it was not followed up and the reactor is currently under decommissioning.

#NuclearReactor

The reactor was operated with U3Si2-Al dispersion fuel. Its #uranium contained 19.75% U-235 and all #nuclearFuel was sent back to its origin (the US) in 2019.
Finally, a few impressions from the reactors control room.
As the building has security-related installations, I did not take a photo of it, but I found this beautiful stamp on which it can be seen.
