Had a #political #debate and got my first block on Mastodon yesterday, yippeeeee 🎉

I'm joking about the yippee part ofc. I'm trying to strike that balance between standing firm in my views but being open-minded/agreeable to others. I don't like offending people, but sometimes it must be done if you are to freely express yourself at all. I used to be a massive people-pleaser, so every time I offend someone it still feels like punishment. As a result, I'm honestly not sure if I struck that balance adequately or not yesterday? I care about people deeply, which is partially why I post anything online these days, but sometimes I know I get misinterpretted. #ActuallyAutistic things oof. I'm trying, and I'm determined to become a better communicator over time. If you do see me truly be a jerk, please say something because I'm not always aware of how I come off.

That said, good manners don't make good #history. We live in interesting times, and now is the time for movement. Do not hurt others, but do not be afraid to make noise online either. If people don't want to see views they disagree with, then they can always block you. That, or they can get off of the #internet, since it's inherently full of contradicting opinions. The exchange of different ideas is the whole point of the #worldwideweb to begin with.
