My first time going viral on the Fediverse.
I write electronic music of all kinds as @RaccoonFink. You should check it out.
@kawa @RangerRick This. It's still a lot worse than the Win3/9X days in the Linux world. In theory you could totally build a theme, but you better go figure out how to do that for GTK, and Qt, and maybe Plasma, and none of these are "pick colors in a GUI".
(The nutso one to me with KDE is that you can't even change your lock screen wallpaper without creating a new SDDM theme. Plymouth too, but at least being *able* to change the boot screen is a *high* bar there.)
@kawa Sorry, I mean the *login* screen, because obviously that's separate.

And the answer is "uhhh copy the theme file somewhere and edit paths inside it, make sure not in your homedir", because someone decided to make all this fully scriptable and layout-controllable, which is admirable, but in the process broke "I can just select an image file and have that appear when my computer is waiting for the password".
Hi, I am trying to change the lock screen and wallpaper of KDE Neon Plasma 6 to something else instead of the default choices. I have changed the wallpaper via Right Click > Configure Desktop and Wallpaper, however, what I chose doesn’t change the Lock screen, and I can’t find any options for changing the lock screen. There’s also a bug where the second screen shows the default wallpaper of KDE Neon instead of what I chose. Unfortunately, the default options are not the best in my opinion, an...
@kgMadee2 took a while to be back on that device, but Debian 13/Plasma 6, it's all Themes now.
I'd love to be wrong, but if there's a plain image picker, I'm missing it (it's not under the three-dot menu). The "get new" store does not exactly inspire confidence either, with the whole "oh yeah these are arbitrary code execution by design". Yeah, bad design.

@kgMadee2 OK, I dug at this again now I'm Debianing the desktop, and it was a stupid fix for a stupid bit of WinDOS-y design to put user config in an install dir: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1090041
Which means, meh, write that conf file without the UI: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/SDDM#Customizing_a_theme
I don't know about Windows, but KDE Plasma still can! The old “color scheme” system from forever ago is still there.
@argv_minus_one @RangerRick Windows still has its old 95-era color scheme system too, but nothing from the last 15 to 20 years is likely to use it.
The one exception I can think of is text highlights.

@ash
Ash, doesn't your personal website still have the Hot Dog Stand theme? 🌭
