If you go back to the very beginning, you'll find website templates from 2000, fully done with glorious tables! (They're not allowed images, so no 1x1.gif tricks).

Add some 88x31 buttons, some vintage anime images and you've got yourself a Neocities stew brewing!

@roadskater I'm being a bit anachronistic here, of course, given that a lot of the people with this kind of design aesthehtic (minimalistic table based, 2002+ "proper" CSS a la Meyer) looked down upon things like GeoCities and later MySpace.

In hindsight, we're looking a lot more kindly upon torch scones and rotating skulls than contemporaries did ;)
