unexpected event the last couple of years- the Dreampop Comeback. It's never been my thing (other than Cocteau Twins) bc I listen, it sounds nice, and then my mind wanders off.
But a new generation spearheaded by Deary is making dreampop with enough edge to elevate the entire genre

if Deary is 'the greatest dreampop band since Cocteau Twins' (they are) then Softlightsymphony is The American Cocteau Twins, mining a similar vein but with their own bigger, more muscular sound

@ancient_catbus they elevated the genre for me! they've been playing loads of gigs, going on the road, and bringing some nice other bands along for the ride. @ancient_catbus Would it be possible to Invite them over... or find a willing promoter? They could potentially support someone like Diiv or Hotline TNT, though I'm not sure how that side of showbiz works. I'm seeing Hotline TNT play soon so will try and ask them at the merch stand.
