The #Mets got swept in 4 games by the #Phillies & the Giants are now tied with the #Reds only 1.5 games behind the #Mets in the race for 3rd place in the NL Wildcard Playoff spot. 😊

Unfortunately, the Giants (74-72) have to play the next 3 games (& 7 of the remaining16 games) vs the #Dogers (3 in SF & 4 in LA). ☹️

They'll really only have a chance of catching the Mets if they can take at least 4 of the 7 games from the Dodgers & then take at least 6 out of the remaining 9 games from the #Cardinals (3), #Dbacks (3) & #Rockies (3). That would be a record of 10-6 over their last 16 games.

The Mets (76-71) only have 15 games left to play & if they go 8-7 in their next 15 games their record will be 84-78 & the Giants can tie them at 84-78 if they go 10-6. Then it will come down to tie breakers to determine who will make the playoffs.

So, while the odds are against them, Giants still have chance of making the playoffs.

@sgt1372 I seem to recall from one of the broadcasts earlier this week that the Mets and Reds both own the tiebreakers, so it wouldn’t be enough to tie them.

It'll be tough enough for the Giants to go 10-6, so they have to hope that the Mets do worse than 8-7 for a chance to take over 3rd in the Wildcard race ,& it also depends on what the Reds do too. 🤷
