#Lukashenko freed 52 prisoners and received a letter and cufflinks from #Trump

The President of #Lithuania, #Gitanas_Nausėda, reported that among those freed were six #Lithuanians.

“Today, 52 prisoners safely crossed the #Lithuanian border from #Belarus, leaving behind barbed wire, window bars, and constant fear,” he wrote on social media #X.

Opposition members, journalists, protest participants, and foreign citizens were released from #Belarusian prisons. According to #Gitanas_Nausėda, #US President #Donald_Trump was directly involved in the negotiations for the prisoners' release.

“52 is a lot. Very many. Nevertheless, more than 1000 political prisoners still remain in #Belarusian prisons, and we can not stop until they are freed,” emphasized the President of #Lithuania.

ℹ️ Earlier today, #Lukashenko met in #Minsk with #John_Cole, the #US Deputy Special Envoy for #Ukraine. The meeting lasted about 5 hours.

#Cole announced the lifting of sanctions on #Belavia. This likely happened in exchange for the release of 52 political prisoners.

#Trump also gifted #Lukashenko cufflinks depicting the #White_House. In addition, #Cole handed #Lukashenko a letter in which #Trump writes that he “prays for his health and well-being.”
