Law enforcement officials are still looking for the #shooter, said a university spox, Ellen Treanor: “There is no suspect in custody; it is an active investigation.” The campus was closed, & classes have been canceled.
Treanor said that #CharlieKirk, 31, was struck about 20 mins after he began speaking on the university’s campus in Orem, #Utah. She said an attacker had fired at Kirk from the Losee Center, a building more than 100 yards away.
Video posted on social media shows the moment #CharlieKirk was shot & the seconds leading to the incident. Kirk was being asked questions about #MassShootings in the #US.
“Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America in the last 10 years?” a person asks. “Counting or not counting gang violence?” Kirk responds right before he is shot.
Speaker #MikeJohnson paused the #House in the middle of a series of votes to call for a moment of silence and prayer for #CharlieKirk.
Several Democrats objected, pointing out that the House had not given a #SchoolShooting in #Colorado earlier in the day the same treatment.
Also #Trump ordered all American flags to be lowered to half-staff until Sunday evening at 6PM in honor of Kirk, he didn’t mention the 3 students shot at Colorado #Evergreen HS.

Utah law enforcement are currently holding a press conference, they say the suspect is still at large.

While the shooter’s identity & political beliefs remained unknown in the hours after the shooting, that didn’t stop many on the #right from framing the #CharleKirk killing as an indictment of the #left.
“No more mercy for leftists,” wrote the Malaysian MAGA influencer Ian Miles Cheong. “They want you dead. They truly want to kill you and desecrate your body and erase your memory.”
“THIS IS WAR,” wrote Chaya Raichik, the person behind the Libs of TikTok account.
“The Left is the party of murder,” #ElonMusk wrote.
“The Left wants us dead,” wrote C.J. Pearson, a Gen Z conservative influencer. “This is not hyperbole. This is now the ONLY logical conclusion that any sane human being can reach after a repeated pattern of demonstrated behavior & violence.”

#CivilWar2 wouldn't be fought between states or regions. It would be fought between neighbors. It would be a bloodbath. It would also be America's national suicide. The world would pick our bones and we'd deserve it. A lot of people think we deserve it already.
