Also, let's not forget who started it in 1948. #Palestinians have amnesia AGAIN, as they do after every major conflict.

#Palestine hasn't been free in over 500 yrs (under #Ottoman rule since 1517, #British after 1917), but that was not a problem for them until #Israel came into existence in 1947.

@[email protected] "That was not a problem for them"??? Sounds like you're the one with amnesia, pal! Apart from your weird desire to speak for marginalised groups you're not part of, like a true fascist!

"…UNTIL #Israel came into existence in 1947".

If it were a problem before, you'd have heard it.

There was no independent #Palestine before #BalfourDeclaration.

There wasn’t going to be one even if no #Balfour Declaration.

#TurkishYoke Palestinians would still be under a yoke, but of a different #MENA country. They're "marginalized" because they let others fight #inTheirName. #PanArabism

@rameshgupta @stuffifound so how many years have to pass before a people are recognized? Should England perhaps try and claw back all of its colonies that are now independent? Should indigenous people everywhere take up weapons?
The argument is not logical to me.
And before you start up BOTH sides disgust me. I am neither pro Israel nor pro Palestine . Both nations have blood on their hands.

⬆️ @CatDragon

>> so how many years have to pass before a people are recognized?

I am not defending what #Israel has done now (I used to, but not any more).

But #Palestinians are not blameless. They have rejected every possible move for statehood before. Links tp credible historical material are above.

>> I am neither pro Israel nor pro Palestine . Both nations have blood on their hands.

Yes, 100%

@stuffifound

@rameshgupta @stuffifound please do not assume that I need to be educated on the history. It’s very offensive.

⬆️ @CatDragon @stuffifound

>> please do not assume that I need to be educated on the history.

Sorry.

This is a public post, and there's at least one other tagged recipient who is patently uneducated in the history of #Palestine. Perhaps the links might be useful to them?

Also, there is nothing offensive about posting links to authoritative history. I myself asked for links to credible sources on history of #Palestinian struggles for freedom PRIOR to 1947. I'd be grateful if you can share any

Given that #Palestine has not been free since 1517 (They were under the #TurkishYoke), I'd love to read up on the history of #Palestinian struggle for freedom PRIOR to 1947.

Got some good history references?

@[email protected] maybe you should look up "1936–1939 Arab revolt in Palestine" to learn about Palestinian resistance against British occupation, then you'll find out how incredibly stupid you sound. Then, follow your logic which is basically "Palestinians didn't care back then (which, as said, isn't even true) so they don't deserve to live in safety and freedom now" and you'll realise how much of a fascist you sound.

⬆️ @stuffifound

Learn to use quotes. I never said "they don't deserve to live in safety and freedom now".

I said #Palestinians REJECTED COMPROMISE and, along with their Arab neighbors, started the war in 1947. So they are neither blameless nor bloodless.

The defeat became known as #Nakba (#catastrophe), but quickly turned into a story of pure #victimhood.

Spread your victimhood propaganda elsewhere. BOTH #Israel and #Palestine have blood on their hands and it's a problem for the whole world

@[email protected] learn to use a client that puts posts in proper threads. Your original comment on my post included the phrase "#Palestine hasn't been free in over 500 yrs (...), but that was not a problem for them until #Israel came into existence in 1947." Apart from it not being true, what exactly were you trying to say with that if not "...so they shouldn't fight back now"?
