Many of those designs remind me of ones from a couple of paper airplane books I had in my teens. That was fun. I wonder if I still have those books. 
Actually just took a look, and I do! Advanced Paper Aircraft Construction Mk II & III by Campbell Morris, 1984. Nice!
(Those little ones are wild; how well do they fly?)
It's probably a rather small/local event to travel to, but that sounds pretty inline with ImmerseCon, which finished it's second year recently near where I am.
