Yesterday I asked my dr. About a covid booster. She said, “it’s unlikely you would die from covid now.” As if I don’t need a booster.
I asked about a shingles vaccination and was told I could get it as soon as the shipment comes in.
Why did one vaccination get zero push back and the other was questioned?
This is an intelligent person. How did she become so obtuse about the risks of “mild” covid?

@Halcyonline untold hundreds of millions of dollars worth of right wing propaganda.

Nice straw man, "dying." Ask doctor how the conversation jumped to that?

Getting C19 is a hassle best avoided, and it takes a few minutes and _maybe_ some brief discomfort to do that. Nobody's being hysterical, any more than is avoiding burning fingers on a cooktop.

That physician is operating under some kind of confusing cloud, needs help.

@Halcyonline
Does that doctor think people are dying of shingles all the time?

@Halcyonline

I can't articulate my response to this dr beyond an enraged gibber.

Me, personally, I wouldn't be nearly so terrified of covid if I could depend on it to kill me outright.

Something I might try while I was sitting on my hands so they didn't reach for dr's throat: "Have you priced out & the social & economic consequences of losing the ability to hold down a job, lately?" >

Relevant wisdom from a successful investor of my acquaintance:

"How to guage whether or not to take on a risk:

Q1: What are the possible gains?
Q2: What are the possible losses?
Q3: Could I afford those losses?"

Note, Q3 is NOT "How likely are the losses?"

This seems to be a novel calculation for many, including (especially?) those in a position to advise the public on taking precautions.

Reflexive control is a hell of a weapon...

Getting a target to make incorrect assessments of reality and then to make incorrect decisions that lead to the attacker's advantage and the target's disadvantage.

Those targeted unknowingly do most of the work of their own destruction.
