"There is no one better to turn real humans on to new music than other real humans."

I was always kinda shocked when people wrote that Bandcamp didn't innovate.

"Each Club is shaped by a curator who’s immersed in their scene—DJs, journalists, label heads, and collectors whose deep knowledge and personal investment help shape the culture around them. Pick the club you want to join and, for $13 a month, you’ll receive a digital album hand-picked by that club’s curator. You’ll also get an exclusive interview with that month’s artist conducted by your club’s curator, access to a members-only space for updates and conversation, and an invite to that month’s member-only Listening Party to listen to the record in real-time with your club’s curator and other fans."

Bandcamp Clubs

A Bandcamp-style, subscribe-to-own music discovery experience, curated by trusted experts and rooted in community. Inspired by old-school record clubs and online spaces where passionate fans come together to share and explore music, bringing together human curation with community connection.

@prinlu Bandcamp is one of the very few platforms for musicians that prioritizes artists over profits. I wish more bands would use Bandcamp instead of Spotify.
@agapetos yes! the service being amazing indeed didn't deteriorate, but, as you might know, it's owned (after two sales) by Songtradr, a sus company that owns majority of world's music catalogue and fired half of the team (including all of union organizers) at the time of sale. so, while founders are long gone, nobody knows how this is panning out. meanwhile i feel it's important to continue the works (and support!) towards community-owned cooperative open source self-hostable federated solutions like #mirlo ( @mirlo ) #bandwagonfm ( @benpate ) and #jamCoop @jamcoop and #faircamp and #comradery @comradery and more...

@prinlu Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know that.
