I would like to acknowledge the presence of Aboriginal peoples in the country of Australia prior to colonisation. Australian history existed long before the arrival of explorers, and to this effect, we all have a migrant history. This history should be recognised when considering Australian identity. To move forward in a way that treats people with humanity and respect, we need to consider our own privilege and acknowledge how this positions us within society.
