I watched this Harvard Business Review video recently. I really enjoyed it. It's about the benefits of boredom.

@audreygwinter I mean anyone would be upset if their favorite toy is lost/stolen/broken. I don't have a smart phone--I'm a digital Neanderthal--but I've been upset to have an electronic device lost or broken.
But yeah, being upset at the loss and being effectively a non-functional person without a phone in-hand are not quite the same thing, and I get what you're saying, I think.
As a kid, I spent long periods being bored, which, I believe, allows me more comfort with time to myself now.
