Western leaders have appeased Donald Trump since he returned to power, only to be hit with new demands after every concession.

On Tuesday, Trump declared economic war on countries that regulate its tech companies. It’s time for the world to break from the US and aggressively target Silicon Valley.

World leaders must stop appeasing Donald Trump

Conceding to Trump’s demands only guarantees new threats. It’s time to reject the US and its tech companies.

@parismarx

Who makes those concessions and why?

Is it maybe that europe depends on US tech too much and would need its own tech to become empowered to actually say no to trump? ...maybe afte rall european tech could save us?

@parismarx
Too late, folks...? or is it?
@TJC_2 @parismarx for individual solutions, yes. USA and some crony states allied with the Orange in Chief became the playground's bully. And as such need to be treated, but with all the adults on the room praising the Orange Guy, it's time for the rest of the kids to unite themselves and let the bully yell alone

@parismarx

sorry.
not gonna happen.
when jewish Isis did this last round of ethnic cleansing EU did nothing even for the show.

now nobody takes EU seriously .

Europe’s ‘century of humiliation’ could be just beginning

Donald Trump is using America’s military and technological superiority to force one-sided deals on Europe.

POLITICO

@parismarx

The EU will cave just as they did with the tariffs before. The Trump admin will simply play the military card again. Europe has grown into a plutocracy where only economical interests mattered for a long time, neglecting investments in defense capabilities after the fall of the Soviet Union.
Thus, if Trump and his goons tell the EU oligarchs and their politician puppets that they'll have to shed blood if they want to keep their independence, the ruling caste will gladly accept the yoke.

@parismarx Trump is lawfaring all he can, see the Magnitsky use against Brazil via Brazilian Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes. He wants to "save" Jair Bolosonaro, so US can't give a look and see how they should had done on their January 6th (for us here replied on January 8th 2023). He was made empowered by US democratic failures and is trying his best to push us all under Hitler's wet dream
@parismarx never should have started. It buys them no goodwill from Donnie. He is a sociopath.

@parismarx Good article - I do miss a reference to the most obvious avenue the rest of the world has to ending US technofeudalism: Rescind IP protections derived from DMCA 1201 & let companies reverse-engineer the everloving crap out of every single piece of Big Tech software & hardware.

If you feel up to it you could also add that with the insane amounts of money spent on licenses, switching to or even building alternative tech is most certainly realistic & even makes good fiscal sense.

@parismarx

it has been said before he was even reelected: he is the best thing that has happened to the European project.

The capture of politicians left and right by bigtech and the dramatic lock-in of citizens, businesses and public sector was a given.

This humiliation and overt coercion is a potent shock. If Europe has still a pulse and a firing neuron it will have to do something. Ofcourse it may not, but that too is good to know.

@parismarx it's time to Secede the Internet from US. Mirror DNS structures and use IP and federative and open protocols. Let us let US speak alone as the bully it is. Also, let us reciprocate them with our own Magnitsky-like laws and put Trump on as a corrupt guy and sanction him accordingly
@parismarx Diesen Typen kann man nur isolieren und ggf bekämpfen. Ich finde dieses feige Beschwichtigen würdelos und schlicht zum 🤮.
@parismarx EU is a vassal of US, hence the appeasement.

@parismarx

Appeasement won’t work with this dictator, a nasty punch on the nose would…

@parismarx A couple of EU countries actually fancy the autocratic plans overseas, so it's less of an appeasement than the inability to have an unanimous answer
@parismarx people underestimate the spy apparatus of the USA and it's reliance on public cloud, social media, and related services. This is KIC to their abilities and they will fight to ensure they can continue to spy on everyone and control them through these networks and services.
