pokemon 1 promised me that everyone was gonna have a computer in their pocket and it would be compatible with the computer in *my* pocket and we could play games *together* on them

we're so close that i'm really mad. everyone has pocket computers now with great wireless modems *and* C-to-C link cables, so WHERE ARE ALL THE LAN GAMES???

---

like the *only* things i know of that come close are Among Us (needs a large group), Minecraft (not great on mobile tho), and Pokemon Emerald (but that requires more setup)

Ingress / Pokemon Go came close but they focused too much on the global events and not enough on like... the people right next to you??? also fuck off with the "you need to join a permanent team" bullshit, if i wanted that i'd go talk to my racist uncle or something

where's the phone-to-phone falling block battler? the phone-to-phone doodle swapping app? hell, where's literally any turn-based rpg made for touchscreens??

i have to assume its because the ecosystem sucks. iOS and, now, Android too, are toxic to developers, so nobody makes good games for 'em anymore.

really hoping that those new linux handheld emulator toys will have at least one multiplayer game.

So, I went on a little hunt on F-Droid for local LAN or one-device multiplayer games, lo and behold, my list:

@creaturr my experience with Luanti on mobile is that it has the same usability issues as Minecraft on mobile but moreso, and these others *sound* like they might be more party games in Spaceteam's circle, but i'll take a look, thank you!

@creaturr ok so nearly all of these are remakes of board games, and while i appreciate the technical skill, at that point i could just buy one of those 12-in-1 travel game boxes and play with real pieces.

SuperRetroMegaWars and AlexGames Hospital look like notable exeptions, i'll take a look.
