@nixCraft i believe the blame for this incident can't fully go to OpenAI, but also to his parents. In my experience, people talk to AI when they have no one else to talk to.

As someone who hid depression from their parents even though they were good parents, I can't stress enough hoe little people understand about these situations and spread very dangerous ideas like yours, even if not done with ill intention. There's zero evidence to support your theory st this moment so spreading malicious feelings towards the parents is honestly pretty bad.

What can I say, even I chat with ai time to time. Sometimes it feels they can be better friend than human ones. Real people will judge you, will talk to your back, reject your friendship for no reason maybe because you are ugly or too simple to be her/his friend. All that aside you really have to understand reality and virtuality, then you will be safe.
