If trains are the greener option, why are we basically being punished for choosing them?

The difference in trains vs planes ticket prices isnโ€™t a coincidence, itโ€™s the result of a transport system that rewards pollution.

@greenpeace That which bothers me is that, the governments won't make the train tickets cheap. They will make the flight tickets more expensive instead.
@nlupo @greenpeace Frankly, if it's done right that's the way to do it.
@nlupo @greenpeace Governments do not set ticket prices. The business executives do
@Oldmikie @greenpeace I know, but still the government can do restrictions. That's why I don't think they can do any better.

@greenpeace Trains are the most underrated mode of transport: comfortable, quick, and efficient. Not too expensive to operate, and very mature tech. No good reason why they should be sidelined.
@greenpeace I don't know what plane tickets cost since I travel on land.
@greenpeace Maintenance might have an effect here. All sorts of bogus stuff happens to those tracks. I knew a guy that worked that field and he was very unhappy with the budget and disappointed the company didn't spend way more on that shit. He actually didn't ride trains, as a safety measure.

@crazyeddie @greenpeace with lower cost and greater ridership the number of trains increases. Closing out ubiquitous air traffic with increased rail usage makes for a more cost effective railway system.
